WHEN THIS YOU SEE, REMEMBER ME.

We had our October meeting on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Beulah Primitive Baptist Church. We were pleased to have Bob McLendon present our program. Bob has a collection of letters primarily written between Susannah McDonald and her husband, Jonathan Colbert McDonald between 1857-1875. Jonathan McDonald served in the 57th Regiment Alabama Infantry during the Civil War. Also included in this collection are letters from other family members. At the time the letters were written the McDonald family lived in the community of Milo in Pike County, Alabama. Milo no longer exists but it was in the vicinity of present day Spring Hill. These letters give insight into the life of a soldier and well as a rare view into the family’s life at home.
